About this event

We are thrilled to announce the launch of our Members-Only Virtual Community of Practice (CoP) focused on Cardiac Emergency Response Planning (CERP). This is more than a professional development opportunity—it's a direct response to Senate Bill 68, which now legally mandates that every public school develop and implement a CERP (effective for the 2026-2027 school year). Over the next six months, we will collaborate to develop comprehensive, fully functional emergency plans that not only meet best practice recommendations (like those from Project ADAM and the AHA) but, most importantly, save lives.

Your Essential CERP Support

The mandate is clear, but the process can be overwhelming. That’s why the heart of this CoP is support, collaboration, and expert guidance. Our core intention is to personally walk alongside you through the entire CERP process, ensuring that every school community is equipped with a best-in-class, life-saving response plan that is fully compliant with SB 68. We aren’t just asking you to write a document; we are partnering with you to build and implement a health program that truly saves lives.

What You Gain Exclusively by Joining the CoP:

Access to Leading Experts: We’ve secured industry-leading guest speakers from organizations like Project ADAM to share real-world insights and answer your specific questions on implementation and compliance.

  • A Library of Essential Tools: You will be guided on exactly how to access and utilize a comprehensive suite of proven, standardized forms and templates—including needs assessment checklists, AED maintenance logs, and post-event documentation forms—so you never have to start from a blank page.

  • Confidence Through Collective Knowledge: By collaborating with peers through our structured process and peer review sessions, you'll rapidly gain the specialized knowledge needed to champion this initiative, transforming a complex mandate into a source of professional pride and community safety.

Why join this CoP

This systematic, guided framework is the fastest and most secure way to meet the new legal requirement:

  1. Compliance with the law: This CoP is structured to cover every core element required by SB 68 (CERT formation, AED placement/accessibility, coordination with EMS, and training), culminating in a Complete, finalized CERP document ready for administrative approval (May).

  2. Reduce Liability and Stress: With a finalized, drilled CERP document, you eliminate major safety gaps, providing tangible evidence of a robust school health standard that protects both you and your school from liability.

  3. Master Program Management: You will gain mastery in high-level skills: designing measurable Code Blue drills (March) and achieving final sign-off from your administration and legal counsel (May).

Monthly Topics:

December: Introduction to CERP

January: Forming the CERT

February: AED Program Management

March: Designing a CERT Drill

April: CPR/AED Training Strategy

May: CERP Document Finalization

Please click register now to sign up  to be part of our CoP and begin this journey together. View the draft CERP CoP Learning Outcomes for each month, starting in December. Unfortunately at this time, we will not be awarding nursing contact hours for our CERP CoP. Dates are not yet decided, although they will take place on a weekday evening, time dependent on speakers. Each community will last 60-90 minutes. The CoP is live-sessions only, will not be recorded to allow this to be a safe space for our participants to discuss issues.

Let's turn this mandate into a life-saving opportunity for our communities.
