The Missouri Association of School Nurses is approved
as a provider of nursing continuing professional development
by VTL Center for Professional Development, an
accredited approver by the American Nurses
Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

Description:
The Missouri Association of School Nurses (MASN) is committed to advancing the practice of school nursing through high-quality, evidence-based continuing education that empowers nurses to support student health and academic success. The MASN Approved Provider Unit (APU), accredited through the VTL Center for PD serves as a cornerstone of this mission by providing relevant, rigorous, and accessible nursing continuing professional development (NCPD) activities for school nurses across Missouri.

Function:
The Provider Unit functions independently within the broader MASN organizational structure, with full accountability for planning, implementing, and evaluating all NCPD activities offered under its approval. This includes live, virtual, and enduring educational formats. The Unit is responsible for conducting comprehensive needs assessments, collaborating with content experts, ensuring compliance with all ANCC/ VTL Center for PD criteria, maintaining documentation, and evaluating outcomes to promote continuous improvement.

Mission:
The mission of the MASN Approved Provider Unit is to enhance the professional growth, clinical competence, and leadership development of school nurses by delivering relevant, evidence-based nursing continuing professional development that reflects current best practices, public health priorities, and the unique needs of the school health setting.

In alignment with MASN’s broader vision, to be the recognized voice and leader for school health nursing in Missouri, the APU strives to create high-impact educational experiences that support school nurses in their role as health leaders, care coordinators, and advocates for student wellness. Each offering is designed to foster critical thinking, promote equity, and advance the Quadruple Aim in health care: improving population health, enhancing the experience of care, reducing costs, and improving the work life of health professionals.

The APU aims to provide 15 NCPD contact hours every year to members through

MASN hosts its signature Annual Spring Conference
on a set geographic rotation around the state. This traditional,
live, provider-paced event centers on community networking,
hands-on clinical skills, and expert keynote speakers,
aiming to provide 7.0 to 8.0 NCPD contact hours.
MASN members receive a significant registration discount.
Non-members are welcome to register at standard pricing,
though we highly encourage joining MASN prior to registration
to instantly unlock the lower member rate.

Each Fall Semester, MASN hosts a live, interactive virtual
workshop aiming to provide 4.0 NCPD contact hours.
This internet-live, provider-paced broadcast features
real-time lectures, active chat Q&A, and group
breakout rooms. Because this is a live event,
it is only available at the specific scheduled
date and time. This workshop is an
exclusive benefit for MASN members
and is fully included with the cost of membership.

For ultimate flexibility, MASN offers an on-demand,
learner-paced Enduring E-Learning Series. This asynchronous
library features recorded webinars and digital modules,
allowing school nurses to choose exactly when and where
to complete their education. The Approved Provider Unit
aims to release four to five 1.0 NCPD contact hour
presentations non-sequentially throughout the year.
To earn credit, learners must complete the activity, pass a
post-test, and complete the evaluation. This series is an
exclusive, free benefit for MASN members.
